Memories on the wall

What was my life like before motherhood?  Dull...I am positive it had to be.  I mother two lovely girls at this time of my life.  I am believing that there will be more in the future (birth or not).

Just yesterday, my girls were playing so contently together.  The older was being the teacher to the younger.  I overheard them reciting the alphabet together.  Every once in awhile, the older would bark out, "No, sit down!".  Surprisingly the younger cooperated and would hurry back to her desk (aka: her purple bathroom hippo stool).  I decided to get a little closer to observe this special moment.  I noticed the "teacher" had constructed this black board out of contruction paper stuck to the wall.  She was writing out the alphabet so they could recite it together.  As she was writing, I noticed she was getting a bit carried away and some of the chalk (aka: marker) was no longer staying on just the paper but was now making its way onto the wall.

Right at that moment, I found myself wanting so badly to cry out, "No!  You will get that marker all over the wall!"  But instead, I heard this soft voice in my head say, "This orange mark on the wall will be a reminder of your daughter's special time they are sharing."

I just came across this mark again today.  No, moms, I still have not used the magic eraser on it.  I am going to let that mark stick around for a while longer.  It will serve as a keepsake.  A keepsake of the two girls more precious to me than a clean, mark-free wall.

Meet the Clan

I can't imagine life without this man.  Married in June 2003, it almost marks a decade of bliss.  Minus the moments we annoy the 'stink' out of each other.  My husband, Geoff, is a full time kids pastor.  Together we share a passion for kids.  We have two vibrant and strong girls of our own.  Soon, we will find our home growing in numbers as we open our door to foster care.

The first born...Jaiden Elizabeth.
...our red-headed sassy, but sweet,
confident beauty.

Avery Paige.
...our peanut-sized, quite particular and
hot-tempered cuddle bug.

Getting started...

Today marks the day that I will begin this new adventure of blogging.  Hold on!!
